West Hollywood Prop 8 Rally Remembers Those Who Made 2013 Supreme Court Decision Possible

Hollywood Park traditions prepare to find new homes

“This was our dream and he never got to see it.” Bigelow was at the rally with Bert Champagne, a friend who also lost his partner eight years ago. For Champagne, the day was an opportunity to celebrate that the next generation of LGBT people and their supporters will no longer be second-class citizens in the eyes of the federal government. Back when Prop 8 passed, Champagne said, he took to the streets with his 16-year-old niece in protest of the ban on same-sex marriage.

MASH

“The same generation that fought in World War II also fought in Korea,” he says. “It was the first ‘limited war’ of the nuclear age. It ended in a stalemate and left Americans divided.

So bury Hollywood Park as everyone must, but put the last rites for the Hollywood Gold Cup on hold. Its likely the Gold Cup, like several other existing fixtures around the country, will become something of a ghost race, this author’s coinage for a high-profile race that continues to be run, under its same name, but not at its original track. Its a term borrowed from the ghost bands that came from the big-band era of the 1930s and 1940s: When the head of a well-known band died (Glenn Miller, for example), the band continued with a different leader but didnt change its name.

Hollywood Fights L.A. Bike Lane: ‘It Just Ruins the Shoot’

1 at the box office in February 2003, was Paramount’s second-highest grossing movie that year, and is one of the 25 highest-grossing romantic comedies of all time. Obst continued to read scripts and develop budgets for the kinds of films she had always made — smart, character-driven, medium-budget comedies and dramas. A year after How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, though, Paramount had not greenlit her next film. “Suddenly, I was getting blank stares when I asked to go to hire directors,” Obst said in our recent interview .

Could China’s growing influence in Hollywood affect Christian-themed movies?

We’re told by an industry insider that “Passion of the Christ” is currently being pitched to join the ranks of “Titanic” and “Top Gun” for a re-release with a high-tech 3D conversion – and although the big-budget, 3D format is usually embraced by Chinese audiences, it is almost certain that this one would not be seen there.  “I doubt the studio would even be bothered submitting it,” a Chinese film expert told us. “For starters, the censors wouldn’t approve the level of violence in Mel’s movie.” A rep for Gibson did not respond to a request for comment. But Christianity does appear to be growing in China. Ted Baehr, founder of the faith and traditional values entertainment site Movieguide.com, insists that the Christian genre does well around the world, and that there has been a push for the website to run a service in China.

Sofia Coppola’s ‘Bling Ring’ blurs morality and Hollywood reality

Hollywood couples who are having ‘commitment issues’

“I’m not opposed to it, but I’m kind of grateful I didn’t get to meet them now.” In the movie, Marc is a new transfer to Indian Hills High School in Agoura Hills when cute, outgoing Rebecca befriends him. “I never saw myself as an A List-looking guy,” the awkward boy later tells an investigator. But after a few nights out with Rebecca — breaking into a pal’s McMansion and boosting a convertible, followed by a shopping spree at Kitson and posting selfies (self portraits) from a nightclub full of at least B Listers — he’s hooked. Soon, Rebecca’s hot gal pals are joining them at celebrities’ homes on nights when, they’ve confirmed via social media, the stars won’t be around. While the attraction for Marc is self-evident, what drove the others to break-ins is a subject for much socio-psychological speculation.

Danny Trejo’s Criminal Past Didn’t Stop The Actor From Doing Time In Hollywood

“Still, given the scale of all the data points available to Google, we have to pay attention to whatever they can show us.” While Google refuses to offer dollar predictions for specific films, it claims it can make predictions with 92 percent accuracy. It further reported that four weeks before a movie opens — before the main ad buys kick in — measuring searches for a film’s trailer can result in a box-office prediction that is 94 percent accurate. Google doesn’t plan, however, to start charging studios for such information the way other tracking services such as NGR and MarketCast do. “We’re going to offer this as a courtesy to our clients,” says Reggie Panaligan, Google’s senior analytic lead. That doesn’t mean that if a film is underperforming, Google will use its findings to encourage clients to buy more search ads. “We are not suggesting causation,” he adds.

Hollywood Scoffs at Google Box Office Prediction Tool

People aren’t scared of tough guys. People are scared of crazy people.” Danny Trejo cleans up his act, gets hired in Hollywood So how does an ex-con gang-banger and one of the most frightening figures you’ll meet go from being just a mean, scary-looking crazy guy to now one of Hollywood’s most beloved action heroes and a celebrity red-carpet regular? Trejo, 69, says it wasn’t easy. And it started with hitting rock bottom and a three-month stretch in solitary confinement in 1968 at Soledad Prison where he was doing five years on a drug dealing charge. “I was sitting in the hole, and it’s like I knew, it’s all over,” Trejo said in a 1998 documentary.
